Equipment | Making Music Equipment – Making Music

The good old question is what equipment to use? Do you have old equipment? If not do I need to invest in an expensive keyboard?

User your old piece of hardware

Generally I was in the lucky position to dig out my old Kawaii K1 synthesizer I used in my Atari ST time. Connecting it to my DAW I had to make use of the MIDI connection available. Yes, USB was not present those times, so if your keyboard has MIDI connection you already can save on the purchase of an adapter. The below MIDI to USB adapter I puchased:

… connect it between keyboard and computer. Voila, the DAW can suddenly receive signals from your keyboard.

Buy some keys only?

If you don’t want to buy a modern keyboard or have an old keyboard, I recommend to purchase “keys only”.

This way you can also play like Mozart on your newly purchased keyboard and enjoy the power of your DAW. Yes, who likes the old piano sounds today if you can sound like David Guetta. Good you have a DAW.
